Development and Location
Scripps Ranch is in the northeastern part of San Diego City. It’s located to the east of Interstate 15, north of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and south of Poway.
Scripps Ranch was originally a 400-acre (1.6 km²) ranch owned by newspaper publisher E.W. Scripps and later developed into the community we see today. Established in the 1890s, the neighborhood continues to proudly maintain its community motto, "Scripps Ranch - Country Living. It’s home to some scenic parks, beautiful community facilities, landscaped neighborhoods and business centers. It offers a variety of home options from apartments, condos, town homes, to large family homes.
The main employers in the Scripps Ranch area are Lockheed Martin, LG Electronics, National University, and the Rhino Linings Corporation. However, since the community is so close to downtown San Diego, the job opportunities for jobs are vast.
Lifestyle
Scripps Ranch has many parks and great areas to relax, go for a walk, jog, run, or to take the dogs out, including Spring Canyon Park, Hendrix Pond, Lake View Park, Miramar Overlook Park, Hoyt Park and more.
Perhaps the best area to get outside is Lake Miramar, also known as Miramar Reservoir. This 160-acre body of water is located on the edges of the Scripps Ranch. The water is known for being extremely clear, as well as a great place to take a stroll or fish. Residents can rent boats and head out on the water, or just use their own.
Scripps Ranch is just a short hop from all the downtown activities San Diego has to offer. With amazing dining, shopping and an active nightlife scene you will be spoiled for choice.
